Not too long ago a call came in asking if this was the Margaret Rome in real estate and was I still involved.
'But of course', was my answer. This gentleman in his nineties was an agent 25 years ago. He found an old magazine from 2006 with my advertising and was just calling to say hello. It was a delight chatting about the "good old days" when he dabbled in real estate.
After about 20 minutes and at the end of our conversation, he told me he was not ready to sell his house. Saying goodbye, I wished him good luck and thanked him for remembering.
A few days later, a call came in from this man's son. He was so appreciative that I took time to talk with his dad.
The son said Dad may not be ready to sell but he was the one looking for a new home and decided, because of that phone call, he would like for me to be his REALTOR®.
We found the right property and the home he bought was actually for his parents. As soon as he moved them into the new place, he called me to sell Dad's old house.
You never know when an old advertisement will surface and you never know when answering a phone call, just to chat, may turn into two transactions.
Boy do I love real estate and this is one of the reasons.
