A Good Deed Never Goes Unpunished

This past Sunday Jasen Edwards was a guest on my radio show. He told us about a seller who removed an old rusted garage door opener but left a brand new one in the garage for the buyers. I thought that was a really nice thing to do...but...

We ran out of time

and I never heard how that was received.  So I checked in with Jasen and here was his response:

'Oh goodness, I forgot to tell you!

Well, the buyer let it sit there for three months then filed a complaint with TREC saying she was put in danger because she had to get out of her car to open the garage door each time she left or returned to her house. She demanded something like $1000 a day as compensation.

The only reason I knew the seller took the old opener and left the new one was because of her complaint. After I found out what the seller had done, I persuaded them to send a contractor over to install the new opener and then sent the work receipt with my official response to TREC. They promptly closed the case and I never heard from any of them again! hahaha!'

Thanks for the follow-up Jasen!

A good deed never goes unpunished.

Morning Margaret.

People will do crazy things for that almighty green back.  Thankfully, this one ended well

Oh my gosh, she had to lift up the garage door? Every day? Like they did in the old days? $1000 a day compensation? My mind just cannot comprehend this.

Good morning Margaret. Some people just don't understand and never get it! At $1,000 a day she could have had round the clock doormen! Enjoy your day!

Good morning, Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland had to laugh at Wayne Martin 's answer.....  that buyer should have been thankful for the new door opener.... there are directions to program it...or call for service...
