If You See 'DRAFT' It Ain't Quite Ready

When writing my daily posts, I always put the word DRAFT at the top before the title. That's my little trick of insuring that I don't publish prematurely. I also post late at night and then read comments the next morning.

This morning when checking, I see a comment by Barbara Todaro and yep you guessed it...the post started with DRAFT!

No..not the end of the world, but it is my way of knowing when the post is ready, proofed, photos or graphics loaded and a quick last spell check.

That is when the word Draft is removed and I hit PUBLISH

Publish

Are there any long time bloggers who have NOT hit that

'publish' button before the blog post was completed?

Could I please see a show of hands?

Should you see DRAFT as the first word in any of my titles...

you will know.....

It ain't quite ready

oops.  I haven't posted when it wasn't ready before, but I often do a quick skim after I post and sometimes find quick edits/typos.

Erika Rae Albert, Austin Real Estate Expert You are a quick study. I don't do it often but it does happen and I can quickly change it before too long.

Always good to see you. Hope you are enjoying the RAIN>

Margaret- oh yes, I've done that and when I did it seemed as if my finger had a mind of its own. LOL It also happens when it's late at night and my contacts are off.

Kathy Streib Thanks for "coming clean". Since I post at night, I don't pick it up til the next morning. Think I may start checking sooner. Careful with that finger.

Hi Margaret,
I do a lot of DRAFTs but I can't say I've ever published before I felt it was ready. Now watch, I've probably jinxed myself and will do it tomorrow.  LOL

I usually schedule to publish very early in the morning so I catch the East Coasters over morning coffee.  Tomorrow I have 3 scheduled throughout the day... Lisa's 3 transactions we loved posts.

I remember a few years ago, I began a few blogs, but hadn't polished them up.  I saved them as drafts, then quickly forgot.  It was a pleasant surprise to remember them once again, when I was having a busy period, and kind of had them in the bank.

That's a pretty clever trick, Margaret. I have hit publish a few times prematurely. And every now and then I find a draft I forgot to publish! LOL

Good morning, Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland was that yesterday's post.... my comment of "one happy client at a time'.... I didn't notice....

Is there a draft in here? Warming up to the cold hard facts when it is labeled draft, not ready to unveil on line and time to remove the blogging canvas. Using the draft mode is wise when you have inspiration but only to a certain point or time runs out Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland !

Good morning Margaret. With big hands and poor typing skills, not to mention a lack of patience at times, guilty as charged! Enjoy your day!

I do not do the draft trick, but I did somehow forget to do spell check a couple times which unfortunately lets people know just how poor of a speller I truly am.

I admire that system you have in place.  Smart idea.

Thank you Kathy Streib

I look forward to your weekly posts...usually read them on Sunday morning and sometimes refer to a member or one of the subjects on my noon radio show. Listen in...just might mention you or you or you.

I think we have all done this, published them a little early at one time or another.   Usually in a hurry to get more things done.  I love your way of knowing when not to publish.

Margaret, that's a great idea. More than once I've launched something prematurely.

Oops....I don't think I've published before ready, but I have come close many times. I like your fail safe procedure. Good idea!

Posted by Sharon Tara, New Hampshire Home Stager (Sharon Tara Transformations) 8 months ago

Guilty as charged. The face flushes and then there is the mad rush to try to fix any typos or other problem.  I also like your big draft graphic...makes hitting the button prematurely a bit less likely. Have a great Sunday, Margaret. D

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD And so many are...guilty of hitting that PUBLISH button too soon.

Posted by Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland, Sell Your Home With Margaret Rome ( HomeRome Realty 410-530-2400) 8 months ago

Thanks for a good tip! I'm apt to hit publish before remembering to give attribution for a graphic. Hopefully I've caught it every time and hurried to the edit button.

I'm also guilty of forgetting to proofread my title. I'll read the rest of it multiple times, making small adjustments, etc. Then might not notice a typo in the title until a day or so later.

Posted by Marte Cliff, your real estate writer (Marte Cliff Copywriting) 8 months ago

Good point Marte Cliff

The title also needs to be proofed
