Does Blogging Work?

When asked if blogging works.

I replied with a few questions.

  • Does one print ad sell a house?
  • Does one postcard sell a house?
  • Does one For Sale sign sell a house?
  • Does placing the property in the MLS sell it?
  • Does one impromptu open house do the trick?
  • Does one radio show sell a house?
  • Does burying a St. Joseph statue sell a home?
  • Does one nosy neighbor sell a house?
  • Does one blog post sell a listing?
  • Does networking with others sell a house?

It's a combination of the above, creativity, experience and a hard work.

There are many other things that blogging has done.

  • I have found many buyers and sellers from blogging.
  • I enjoy blogging and the instant gratification of the comments.
  • I wrote and had a book published because of blogging.
  • I left a big box company after 18 years because of advice received from blogging.
  • I started HomeRome Realty with the help and confidence that came from blogging.
  • I have my own live radio show and blogging has been an influencing factor on my success.
  • I speak with an AR member everyday because of blogging.
  • I have found many buyers and sellers from blogging. (This one was worth repeating.)
  • I have sent and received numerous referrals from blogging?
  • I have made tremendous friendships both business and personal from blogging.

For me blogging does work!

How about for you?

Hi Margaret

It can work in many ways. But the key question is what do you mean by "does it work?" It may or may not depending on what you mean by that!

Blogging is the most effective method I know. It helps the videos, photos, and most of all the good content on the blog to be seen.

Good morning Margaret. Blogging works and those who are lucky enough to get one of your daily phone calls will attest to it! Enjoy your day!

We live in the information society. Be helpful, be the local insider to share and guide the real estate list and sell. And you will see success. Like a garden, plant, weed, water and harvest from a well tended information and listings patch.

Blogging is not face to face time spent with clients you have now - it's way of answering commonly asked questions from the clients you'll have tomorrow.

Blogging certainly works for us.  Not a sprint activity but a marathon, but we reached a point where all the past work built up enough to keep us front and center for our key search terms.

Impatience seems to rule this industry! Consistency, and most marketing works. Just don't abandon it, seen so many times.

Posted by Corinne Guest, New Homes Specialist (Barrington Realty Company) about 1 year ago

It absolutely does! Even if it's only to meet like minded people here in the 'rain and learn from each other. But we all know it's much more than that including referrals and that the public DOES read our blogs and, hopefully, decide they want to work with us.

Margaret,

Well said, I especially like the responses you listed that you typically give! I could go on & on about the importance of blogging, & more importantly, of generating fresh, unique content for your blog's readers. Having fresh, unique content is such a vital part to SEO (which affects all businesses, including real estate) & should be something that is always given an ample amount of time & dedication.

 Thanks for the great post!

I've been writing content for real estate agents and it has helped generate quality, targeted leads! You just have to make sure you are writing about the right topics! Blogging helps a lot with SEO too.
