A Listing For Just Returning A Call


It was many years ago and before HomeRome Realty when I was with the big box company.

There was a message left about selling a home. The caller left the address and I knew it was in one of those not "upscale" areas.

Returning her call, I was told she left messages with a dozen agents and I was the only one to call back. She was so appreciative to talk and just ask some questions.

I wanted to "make up" for all the agents who did not have the courtesy to return a call. What a good feeling.

Found out it was the family home where she grew up. Her parents had recently passed away and she needed some guidance.

I asked her to meet me at the property...she was a bit surprised saying you don't even know me.  

She was a delight.  I fell in love with her little, all brick, 3 bedroom single family home on a level lot near public transportation.

I listed the house for the going market which she thought was way too high. It was under contract within a day or two of placing the sign.

When I wrote the listing on the board in the office, several agents commented they had received that call but was not interested in the area.

I thanked them all.

That same owner had a large home to sell,  purchased another property  and has referred me whenever she hears of anyone buying or selling.


All because I returned a call.

Awwww what a great story Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland .  I am shocked how many times I hear this.  I have gotten listings because of this as well.  So glad you took such good care of her and made a friend and great customer in the process.  That's what it's all about.

I hear this all the time.  Either I was the only agent who called  back or that answered his or her phone.

It's another great example of the value of returning phone calls. It's surprising how often we hear buyers and sellers say they have called multiple people without getting a return call. Good for you - she sounds like a wonderful client.
