Surprise There Is No Archie !

Two of my sellers have shared a snail mail letter received this week. They were both identical, both on yellow lined paper with the same  message...only difference is the inserted address which I have blocked.

It's a clever a 'hand written' note but looking closer it is a red computer font.

This letter is a scam

The return address on the envelope is a post office address.

When you call the number, there is someone wanting to ''buy'' your home. You must give them your name and address of your property.

Surprise there is no Archie!!

Have you received a letter like the one above?

I cant imagine this working since people would be very upset and non trusting of this obvious Liar.

Archie may have just wasted a ton of money on this attempted marketing venture.

Now you've gone and done it, Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland . Bursting my bubble like that! Here I thought Archie really did want to buy my house at full price without even visiting it. Check's in the mail, right?

Good morning Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland ,

Such a shame that there are those that spend all this time and effort scamming people! Put that creative side to use and try a legitimate business and they'd do well!

Hi Margaret - We get them frequently - for rental homes we sold in the past. More annoying are the ones we get from local agents claiming to have buyers for our home - it could happen, but we know the agents and know their claim isn't credible.

No, I did get a business card from an agent, who said he wanted to buy my house, though!

Bait and switch.  Lovely.  There is a radio commercial that plays in our market about a team that has over 5,000 ready, willing and qualified buyers.  Hog wash!  They have a database of 5,000 internet home shoppers.

Chris Ann Cleland Like the signs on the corners 'we buy houses' , "we will buy your house for cash" . There are many who believe... especially our classic clients. Just want to get the word out to the public. Think I will discuss this on the radio Sunday.

I've gotten these from REALTORS® who do not disclose that they are agents or associated with a brokerage. In one case I complained to the broker and when the broker didn't take care of it, the real estate commission. Luckily this person is not longer a REALTOR®.

Oh, gosh, yet another scam. I think that if these guys put all the creativity and energy to something legitimate, they could be successful in life

I don't know much about this. But thanks for the heads up regardless and all the best, of course.
