Would You Like To Be On The Radio

Yesterday, I had a guest on ALL ABOUT REAL ESTATE, my weekly live radio show. This guest is a former client, friend and neighbor.

All About Real Estate Margaret Rome

The discussion was regarding a new installation of a gas heating system in the  home he recently purchased.

Permits were pulled (but only after the work was almost completed ) and Baltimore City would NOT pass the inspection because of code safety issues and an improper installation. The licensed contractor basically said the code was not good and the customer could "go fight city hal! " He also said the home owner was responsible for knowing the code.

My goal was to find some help for this consumer without a legal battle. We just want the expensive HVAC system to safely heat the house.

It was a lively show with multiple calls, texts, emails and  more phone calls after the show. Many suggestions were given by the listening audience.

This show was a spur of the moment idea and now I am thinking  the public needs more shows like this.

Who should be on the radio next?

Maybe Code Enforcement would make a great guest, talk about the common mistakes home owners make that cost them dearly? We get a variety of guests on our Podcast to try to help Realtors and sales people out with common problems.

As Thomas Nelson mentioned above, Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland , but I would have to counter that contractor's claim and I hope the authorities will too!

Sandy Padula and Norm Padula, JD, GRI NMLS#1483386 That's what the homeowner is doing. However it needs to be corrected and there is no money to bring in another contractor

"Would I like to be on the radio?"  There is a funny thing that happens with me.  I can talk in large groups or small; but stick a microphone in front of me, and I freeze up.  I've never figured that out!

Myrl Jeffcoat Simple solution for you. Just call in the station on your phone and you will be on the radio.

I remember my radio days, but haven't thought of combining radio and real estate.

Margaret - I  think the contractor has liability. What contractor worth his wait in salt doesn't pull permits BEFORE the job begins. Is there no way to go after that guy?  He'd be in a heap of trouble here.  There are endless topics that people would appreciate hearing about.  One that I get asked quite often by my clients is - if I make updates to my property will I get an ROI.  My answer is always - it depends.  There are so many factors to consider not only with the upgrades but also the market, the neighborhood  and how long do they intend to be in the home.

Anna Banana Kruchten I think the contractor is in a heap of trouble but the buyer has not been able to get any kind of response without a law suit which is more out of pocket money... and they still don't have safe or proper heating! Good idea for a topic, thanks for sharing.

Well, I worked for WJFK FM in Fairfax, VA.  I worked with The Don & Mike Show as an intern, then later sold ads for their entire station.  In between, I worked at Westwood One as a sales rep selling talk radio shows, primarily Don & Mike.  On the weekend, I was the producer of Jerry Baker, The Garden Guy's program.  It's what I studied to do in college, but the profession itself wasn't meant for me.  I found my dream profession in real estate.
