This Is My Special Place

Paul Henderson invited us to share the most unique or special place we have lived for the March contest.  His story, living in a submarine, is going to be hard to top

I promise mine IS going to be quite boring. Since graduation, I have had the same phone number. That phone number was mine when I was single, lived alone working as an RN, in my first apartment and the apartment we lived in when first were married.

We have stayed in the very same neighborhood and same zip code for all these years.

We bought our first, last and only house, as a FSBO,  forty years ago.

My ceramic studio was the lower level and there was a lot of enjoyment in that space.

It has been a very happy home and perfect for me. Since I lost My Lee  TLH, I have made changes in the house that I love. My office aka my command center is my favorite space and where I spend most of my time. It is truly all me. It holds so many things that I love like this hand made bowl

sitting on my beautiful desk.

I have been able to use interior design to incorporate my custom artwork, all through out my home.

This is a place that I love to come home to.

Living in the city of Baltimore, I still have plenty of wildlife as evidence by

 the visiting deer.

My Phoebe and I are 'purrfectly' content here. We love the quiet!

Basically, it is a  rancher with a two car garage, tucked into a delightful neighborhood. There's more space than I need but everything is right for me.

The location, the style and the security...all ideal.

My goal in real estate is to find this safe haven for all my clients.

Many times I have been asked if I am still in my original home. Some people question my reasoning...asking why not a small manageable condo. For me, this would not be the right decision.

Hope you have found your special place.

Margaret a home is where I feel at home and Diane is there to be part of it and our cats and dogs... it does not matter if it is in a tent or in a mega mansion.... I think of a famous comedian who took his own life and his other half had no idea because she was in the other wing of the mansion.....

Hi Margaret - love how you express yourself in your home with you unique, handmade art! Really beautiful! Now I'm off to read Paul's story.

If you've found the place that is right for you, you're home!

BTW the link to "My Lee TLH" is broken.  I don't know what TLH stands for.  Google gave me some choices, but none of them seemed right. On the upside, I now know the airport code for Tallahassee Fla!

Dianne Goode Thanks for letting me know. The link is now working.  I so enjoyed our conversation today. All the best.

Hi Margaret - Finding perfection, and being happy with it, is a great place to be. Few have been lucky to enjoy that as long as you. And that's a lovely bowl - very nice work!

Margaret I can feel all the love in your home!  I'm so glad it's been your safe haven all these years....and for many, many more years to come. And I agree, it's the goal to help our clients find their safe haven. Love that!

There is nothing more comforting than the feeling of living in 'home sweet home'. Hugs my friend

Oh, there's no place like home and how wonderful to hear you're in the same place you've been for 40 years, Margaret!  I did not know that!  And, even the same zip code in Baltimore that you were in when you were working as a nurse too - I only dream of that type of longevity in a home!  I think that's why I settled here in Charlotte 37 years ago and refuse to move (out of Charlotte)! Prior to that, I lived in many different cities and to be 'settled' is a dream come true for me!

LOVE the porcelain bowl - you are certainly a woman of many talents, Margaret!  Hugs to you!

my forever house hasn't been built yet.  But I beleive that home is where we are and not where we live.  I have happy memories at several homes because I was there with my family.  And my parents like you have had the same address and phone number for decades.

Has it really been that long since Lee transitioned? Wow, Margaret. And you keep that grand smile going, and living life fully. Good for you, and glad to see that your art stands proudly displayed.

My dear Margaret, I can only imagine how very special your one and only house with Lee is. Comfort, warmth, the sounds & smells that trigger memories and the sense that one belongs there just cannot get packed up and moved to a new place.
