Helpful Ways To Stay Connected

There are simple ways to stay in touch with our clients. My favorite way..  simply picking up the phone.

When you call ask if copies, of their closing documents, are needed.

Of course they received them at the time of settlement. But they may not remember.  Provide this service by mail, email, text or maybe you have a CD from closing.

I remind my former buyers and seller, on my live radio show, they can call me for this information.

Doesn't matter how you reach out...just stay in touch especially at the end of the year or around the holidays.

There are some easy ways to make sure your recent clients have these documents.

At the end of each settlement have stamped  envelopes with the  buyer's property and the seller's new address. Place a copy of the HUD 1 or CD and other final closing documents into the envelope and file them.

At the end of the year just mail this stack to your buyers and sellers from the previous year.   You may want to wait until until March and send them out prior to tax deadline.

At the settlement table also have a few larger envelopes that are addressed from the buyer to he seller. Any stray mail that is delivered can easily be forwarded. It's sometimes the small details  that make a difference.

Yes, Margaret, simply reaching out and calling people can be the most effective "connect" to make.

Margaret, you are so organized!  And these documents really do come in handy at tax time.  I might steal this one from you!

Hi Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland ,

I make sure my buyers all have a settlement statement to give to their CPA and also remind them it is time to file for their homestead exemption after January 1. Always reach out and show your value to your clients!

These are great suggestions. I always provide copies of transaction documents but calling to talk with them, and perhaps find out the best method - most of mine want them to download. I also send out the settlement statementsa fter the first of the year for taxes.

Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland we have been sending the Hud 1 in the past, but with TRID this has changed. Now with your ideas, I can incorporate some new ways to keep in touch with buyers and sellers. Thanks

You are the consummate phone person! I don't like talking on the phone for personal stuff. It's weird, because I LOVE being connected with people, but not by phone. My sister is the same way and when I found that out, I felt a bit better--it runs in the family! I stay in contact in so many other ways. They're neighbors, after all, so I help them all of the time with my resource list, the post-sales requests that I get asked to do...I'm doin' my part post-sale!

Margaret you are the best at picking up that phone... you truly believe in "the phone is your friend" philosophy.... something that is so effective but is becoming a fading way to conduct business by the Internet Gurus...boy they are wrong, Endre

Hi Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland ,  That's a great idea to send them out before tax time, so thay have the information and it also makes anoher contact with them.  Of course your radio show keeps your name out in front of the public.  Thanks for sharing your information in my contest.

Margaret we used to do this for years but got away from it as everything is now online. I might want to re-consider this and send them out as before. Thanks!

I love, love, love the idea of taking larger envelopes to the Closing table to put mail in for the sellers - a great way to show them that you care...even after the sale!

I also use the phone a lot - I live on my phone, I think!  It's truly the best way to keep in touch.

Happy New Year, Margaret!
