Speechless Is Not Good On Live Radio

Before midnight I  posted this question on the Q&A section.

''Have you or your clients been scammed?

I am going to talk about this topic on my Sunday radio show and would like to relate it to real estate.''
 Margaret Rome Radio
One of my topics today was warning people about SCAMS and I asked the listening audience if they had been involved to share examples.
One of my callers, Victor, gave a few examples of phone scams and how he handled them. Some calls he hung up on others he kind of toyed with. Victor is blind and he used his humor to get rid of a few callers.
There was one story he told that I was not ready for.
A female called Victor to say she had been trying to reach him. Recognizing this call as  spam.. he said:  "I'm horny..will you talk to me for a while?"  She hung up.
I didn't have a comeback, no comment and for once Margaret Rome was speechless.

Oh, Margaret!  Nothing is scarier than dead air!  But perhaps your listeners were equally speechless and needed a minute to recover along with you!

well I can see how that would be a show stopper.  I wonder why people feel the need to go down certain paths in such an inappropriate situation

Oh, MY.....Margaret speechless on the radio! Well, sometimes the PAUSE and SILENCE is equally as effective. Just like a lot of "white space" in an ad, with one simple sentence. It certainly grabs your attention.

Oy vey.

Yes, I can see why you may have been with a lose for words

I think Victor's sense of humor is pretty funny! What a way to get an annoying caller to hang up!

Do you have a 7 second delay just in case the call goes south Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland  ?

Great story. ON our show we DO have the 7 second delay button at the ready. I had a friend of mine who arrnanged a ton of 2nd notes during the last BOOM market. They all had 30% equity behind them but unfortuneatly our market dropped close to 50+%. Many folks lost out on those seconds. He and many others lost a fortune. He was on my show chatting about this as one of the downsides to lending private money. Some guy called in and started to RIP him for stealing all of his money--We quickly hit the 7 second button as the caller was there to disparage my friend. The caller, who I knew, not only lent but had many seconds he owed on his income properties.

Your sight- impaired caller reminded me of another time when I was speaking to a colleaque in an elevator and a lady with a cane and dark clases was next to us. She blurted out, "Mike Kelly? Is that you?" She was a long time listener to the show and recognized my voice!

Mike Kelly  I really knew this caller from previous calls. Not sure if I would have dumped him. I just was not  prepared with a quick comeback. Great story about  being "recognized" on the elevator.

Just left you a message. Would love to talk about the show with you.
