Just today I had an agent tell me I "better" take his offer because this property will"never" sell at the listing price. His " non written offer'' was  an email for a low price and a rent to own. I suggested he put in a formal offer if he wanted it presented.


When someone says it can't be done...please get out of my way.




This reminded me of examples others said I could or should not do. 

Here are a few:


You can't drive a two door car and be a success in real estate.

You can't have a waiting list for sellers.

Print advertising does not work.

You can't be the Open House Master if you don't do Open Houses.

You should not make your own appointments.

You should not be present to show your listings.

Just because you blog does not mean you can write a book.

You should not be present for the home inspection.

You can't sell that  historic church.

You cannot just work with people you like and respect.

Never list a house contingent on finding a home of choice.

You cannot  answer your phone all the time.

Blogging wastes a lot of time and is not productive.

No one can blog everyday.

You can't call an ActiveRain member every day.


 When someone says it can't be done...please get out of my way.

If I didn't make my own appointments, I wouldn't show any homes. I drive a 2 door car - buyers don't drive with me anyway.

Never let anyone tell you what you can't do (well, unless its illegal), show hem what you did do.

Margaret - Sounds like you have done your share of proving others wrong. When others say it can't be done, Margaret Rome will sell your home! How's that?

 Good morning Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland . If you shorten the tag line down to "Margaret Rome will sell your home." it could be a very effective marketing piece.

Haha, obviously that agent does not know who you are and after his low ball offer gets rejected, he will see a "too late" rider on the sign before too long!

Love Brian's comment and your blog post, of course! I do get a chuckle out of being underestimated: let's go with this agent's buyer, she looks all sweet and innocent and we can jerk them around! NOPE, not going to happen!

Would be interesting to see if he is indeed going to write up a proper offer.

You probably have a commission directly linked to every time someone has told you that you can't do something.  I like your attitude.

That agent is uninformed.   In your world Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland , it's  "TOO LATE".   When someone says you can't,  TOO LATE;  been there, done that.   When will they ever learn ?   Hopefully before it's . . . . . wait for it, . . . . . say it all together now, . . . . TOO LATE !

Needless to say, I like your motto.
