Does It Always Have To Be About Real Estate?

Does It Always Have To Be About Real Estate?

Speaking with AR member Marco Giancola this morning, I discovered we have similarities. We have both  been REALTORS ®  for the past 26 years, we both enjoy learning and  we both enjoy connecting with other agents of all ages. Marco is interested in the recent course CNE that I took with another member .

And then I found out about Marco's  love of architechture and painting.

When asked if he shared this passion on ActiveRain,  his response...No, he feels he should keep the conversation to real estate.

To say I disagree would be an understatement. People want to know about us. People want to connect with others like us.

 We talked about his art

  and mine.

To me blogging is an art.

Since Marco does abstract art, I asked if he knew Marti Garaughty who designed the cover of my book.

Real Estate The Rome Way

My various backgrounds have added so much to real estate. Through my nursing, ceramic art, blogging and radio show, I continue to make connections.

Take a look at the blog Marco wrote after our conversation

 And He Paints Too.

So I ask....

Margaret, I saw Marco's post earlier today.  His studio is wonderful!

Patricia Kennedy Our conversation this morning was wonderful. I even mentioned you and your musical talent. Love knowing about our members and it is not always about real estate. It might even be about Millie or Willie!

It is nice to learn about Marco's art.  That is a nice piece in the photo.  I would of course like to hear more about Marco's art.  No, it doesn't need to be just about real estate.

Margaret, I'll go over and check out his art. I agree we need to show and share ourselves. Since I started, my blogs show my connections to real estate, and also my love of art, travels in Italy, and cooking. Even tonight I posted how to make pasta.

I still display my oil painting work at open house and put a price. Many people like it and someone comments I will do well in painting too.  I take it as a compliment.

Ellen Caruso I loved  reading about your homemade macaroni. Not at all about real estate but it sure makes me remember you.

Sam Shueh Have you shared your oils with us on AR?

I agree with you Margaret.  It shouldn't be all about Real Estate.  We'd sound like robot salesmen if that was all.  I like to hear about everyone else's interests too.

Marti Garaughty It is hard to believe that someone was NOT familiar with your art.

Even after all these years, I am still loving my book cover!!

Margaret - I would have to agree with you. I think people want to not only know that we are knowledgeable real estate agents, but they want to know us on a personal level. We should be giving them a chance to like us and trust us as well.

Well, you know me! And here's a resounding NO! It doesn't always have to be about Real Estate. I just talked to a lovely person in Boston, she is thinking about getting her license, searched, found me and my blog and said "it just sucks you in, I couldn't stop reading". I have a (good, I think) mix going. People will call when they feel a connection. They can't feel one if we don't share who we are and what we are all about.

Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland I have already been to Marco Giancola 's blog.  In fact we were hoping to meet him at our meet up as he isn't all that far away.  You're right; we are the sum of our past experiences.  And you never cease to amaze me how you can come up with a blog out of thin air!

If it's "YOUR" blog Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland , it should be about you and what you want to share of yourself with the world.   Kudos for bringing Marco's art into the light of day.
