Not Looking  For Your Referrals

This post was inspired by yet another telemarketing call promising me hundreds of referrals.

I would much rather earn my referrals rather than pay for them.

Don't get me wrong, I would be happy to help you, your family or your favorite client here in the Baltimore area but I am not looking for your referrals.

not looking for referrals

Buyers and sellers come from my blogging, from my networking,  from my print media, from my past clients,  from my friends & friends of my friends  and from my radio show.  My goal is to keep my own pipeline full.

What if the Internet went down? Would I still have clients?

What if  blogging stopped? Would I still have clients?

What if  print media closed shop? Would I still have clients?

What if there was no weekly radio show? Would I still have clients?

 I think so.

Especially with  word of mouth, past clients, friends, networking and the use of the telephone...I would still have clients calling to sell their property.

But I am

Good evening, Margaret --- ahh, tis the season for selling hopes and dreams that are being peddled to those who don't want to do the hard work and effort that goes into making a successful business.

Good morning Margaret. But it's hope that the season brings you plenty of good solid referrals.

Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland It seems these 'Companies' come in waves. My cell telephone now has more numbers blocked that numbers I wish to keep.

Merry Christmas to you!

Good morning Margaret! Earning referrals trumps having to pay for them! Enjoy your day!

The best type of referrals are those that come from past clients, family, friends and our own marketing efforts, not from the various pay-for-lead-services that are out there.

Good morning Margaret. Exactly right. You get because you deliver. Enjoy the day.

Margaret, when I get those calls I ask the telemarketer if they would like to buy some of my leads since I have more than I can handle...they're not sure what to say. Yes, my referrals also come from much the same sources as yours except for print (which is pretty much dead here) and, of course, I don't have a radio show although I did do commercials a few years ago when I was at a big box brokerage.

Nick T Pappas As long as the referrals and repeat business keeps coming in...you are doing it right. Good answer to the telemarketer.

Word-of-mouth is what got me on my feet as a NEWBIE realtor! I also typed up a newsletter and sent it to my mailing list from my husband's working list as a former President of the HOA.

Good for you! I don't pay for referrals as they have NO IDEA what my niche is! Don't need 'em, and I'd rather spend the money on charities that are those my clients love INSTEAD. Pay it forward!

My best referral (and I assume yours as well) is from someone who has previously done business with me Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland    I wish those "services" didn't exist because all they do is confuse Internet searchers trying to find OUR sites.

Deanna Early  For sure, these are the best clients to do business with.
