Grab This For Safety!

A Grab Bar can Hold Towels but a Towel Bar Cannot

Hold The People Who Grab It For Support.

Good sturdy grab bars  can be placed in many different areas. The most popular is the bath room where most accidents occur. No reason why  grab bars could not be used to hang towels.

One thing for sure it is  safe and sturdy for a person to hold onto.

Standard towel bars  can hold  towels for many years. Some like the one below is attached with grout and the bar is an easily replaced plastic square tube.

Can you imagine if someone needed to support themselves and grabbed this kind of bar? I have seen people grab the towel bar...just to steady them selves.  An accident waiting to happen.

I'm going to handicap equip my next house.  I want an "aging in place house" that will support me living there until I turn back to dust.

Tammy Lankford  Great idea but....Why wait for the next house?

because we don't plan to age in this one.  No basement and we want a basement in the next few years.  We're currently in a land search.

I just finished my "Aging in Place" classes held by the Hawaii Building Association.  According to the contractors I met at class many of the grab bars they see in tubs are not strong enough to fully support a person.  If there is not enough support behind the tile the bars easily come out.

Good Thursday morning Margaret. Yes, as we get older, we do need these "crutches" to help us along.

Margaret, grab bars are becoming more and more common in bathrooms.  I think they are smart even if you haven't had knee replacement!  And yeah, grabbing for a towel rack could wind up with a trip to the emergency room.

Good morning Margaret,

Must have had a premonition of this as we installed two in the new master bath.

Also a holder for the manhattan glass; just kidding but should have!

Make yourself a great day.

Good advice. I think as we age, especially when we live alone, it's a good idea to think about safety around the house.

Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland We need more builders to include these in homes during construction phase.  We installed grab/towel bars in both bathrooms when we remodeled.

Have successful open today & great radio program.

This is good advice. Many of us in the advanced seniors category need to install grab bars.

Posted by Roy Kelley (Realty Group Referrals) almost 4 years ago

Mary Yonkers Easy to install in new homes, but in so many live in older homes and/or rentals. Would like to see all of us encouraging these safety features.
