Next week I get to do one of my favorite things – talk about blogging. I know, I talk about it a lot anyway, but this time I've been asked to give a presentation on blogging for the Greater Baltimore Chapter of the Women's Council of Realtors.
The WCR is a great group that I've had fun with before. About a year and a half ago there was a session on using technology where I showed off my tech toys and tools during their Day of Education. The best part was seeing people sharing information and tips on using their tech tools so that everyone got better.
This time, I'll take a couple of minutes to talk about the basics in case there are people who don't have a solid understanding of what a blog is. But mostly I'll focus on how blogging can be used successfully as a marketing tool by any agent whether a rookie or seasoned professional.
I've learned so much from blogging, especially from being part of the Active Rain community, and that's one thing I will certainly promote – get in on the Rain! We get better at blogging by doing it, but we also learn so much from reading other bloggers, and this group has some of the best.
If you were me, what would you tell a group about blogging?

This mornings email brought the following:
You've received a contact message from your Contact Form on the ActiveRain network.
Message details:
I googled Sue and found her photo!

Subject: WCR Meeting on 3/13
Hi Margaret,
I wanted to send you a reminder email regarding this week's WCR meeting. For the heck of it, I googled your name and WOW, your name is everywhere!! I had never read a blog until looking at yours, and of course you had blogged that you were speaking at our meeting!
I know you will have a lot of exciting information to share with the group. Many members have heard you speak and are looking forward to this meeting.
As a reminder, the Affiliate Fair runs from 11-12. You are scheduled for 30-45 min following lunch. Somehow I suspect you could talk informatively to us for the entire meeting time!
Thanks again for agreeing to speak to the group.
Regards, Sue Markuson

I spoke with Sue and invited her to Active Rain.
Naomi, I will let you know after Thursday. I am grateful for the opportunity.
Latonia, Thanks for your kind comments.
Margaret,
Is this a meeting I would be able to attend? Or is it for REAs only?
Audrey, Contact Tasha@mtglender.net to reserve a seat. Her fax 410-771 0480
Would love to have you at the meeting. Call me 410-530-2400
If I got in front of a group to talk about Blogging, there'd be no need for coffee, and they couldn't shut me up!! LOL!~ You know me Margaret, I can name 10 reasons to Blog right now.....but I won't! Hahahaha You'll do a great job and represent us and yourself well, I just know it! Bring down the house, and "Make Their Day!" :-)
BTW - since you are definitely technically non-challenged, do you have a power point to make your power points? I'd love to see that in your repertoire... :-)
Brad, Wonderful talking with you yesterday. I love what you did with your latest post!! Making A Point - The Power Point Way!
Thanks David and Kristin. I am on my way to the Country Club to answer this question. "What's a Blog Anyway?"
Brad, Everyone, go read Brad's post! Making A Point - The Power Point Way! This is the presentation I am doing in about an hour.
Margaret. I just looked at the Power Point presentation on Brad's blog.
Very nice.
Brad, We make a pretty good team! I told the group about your power point post. One of the agents that signed up for the meeting and could not come was delighted to know the presentation is on line.
Brad, There are now, 111 comments on your AR featured post! Making A Point - The Power Point Way!
David, Thanks for stopping by!
Great information. I am just going to join the WCR chapter in California. They just launched their blog this week. I am up against lectures from my mother manager that you need to get to the basics, call clients, get them in your car, nothing beats the face to face...ok Help!!! I do limit my blogging and call all my leads, I just told my mother you have to take a risk on something new..any advice!!
I am amazed at how you find the time for all you do!! Acutally, I have my last child at home and he is 12 so I have slowed my pace and I am just getting new treatment for fibromyalgia...So I do what I can and I use to do to much..
Mary, Enjoyed speaking with you today. Your mother is right, you need to do the basics and get face to face. But blogging can help you get your name out there. Blogging can make the phone ring. Blogging can help bring buyers, sellers and agents from outside your area.
Take care of yourself and enjoy what you are doing
Margaret and Brad, marvelous post. Great idea adding a power point to a blog. That will be a project I would love to master. Oops I wasn't logged in.
