An Exciting Day in Class-Baltimore,Maryland

It wasn't the subject matter. It wasn't even the results of the quiz. As usual, what made the day exciting was the people. An Exciting Day in Class-Baltimore,Maryland

Anna with Kindle A few days ago I wrote about Anna in my broker class, and how she's a great fan of the Kindle, Amazon's e-book reader. Well yesterday she had it with her and was showing us all how it works. It is so thin, so neat!

 Kindle

But it got better. She pulled up the cover of my book, showed how to turn the pages, and how to put the curser before a word and voilá...the definition.

Kindle definition

Book on Amazon KindleBut she wasn’t done yet – there was one more special feature. The Kindle reads to you. There in front of about 15 other brokers/agents... my book was been read aloud! As one person commented "It sure doesn't sound like you." Nope, it didn't - it was a male voice. Hmm….wonder if you could change that to a female voice with a bit of a southern accent?

I want one so bad, and have for awhile. Being caucious with money right now. I heard on Fox this AM that they are getting tons of people downloading newspapers. Everytime I read or hear of this it makes me want one more and more.

Gary, I felt like "show and tell" while we were playing with this is  adorable toy. And to see my book and hear my words...what a thrill.

Missy,So when's your birthday? Keep throwing some hints around. When's your next closing, put a bit aside. It is a business expense..you will be able to keep up with technology and all the latest real estate books.

That is a pretty neat sounding device.  I think it would make a good Father's day gift for yours truly!

The Kindle looks interesting, and I have a reader friend who brags about it. But I still like the old newspaper.

Had a friend tell me that a main disadvantage is that there is a problem with referencing the pages when doing thesis type work --  otherwise sounds great .

I am sure they could make it in any voice...or language...it had to be fun to listen to "real estate bedtime stories" read to you....we have, as you know...been there/done that...enjoy !

Tim, Hope Pam is listening.

mARTi, You deserve one for sure. Just think your art .. my book on your Kindle. You know that awful statement.."he who dies with the most toys....."

Now Fred, How do we get that to happen? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Sally, For a reader, I can't think of a better item for him. It would be very easy to buy him gifts.

Harrison, You sound like my hubby.

Bob and Carolin, Wow what a way to do a thesis!

Sally, I loved hearing that I was your bedtime story.

Just think of the possibilities ... those with health challenges, the elderly, sight impaired, young children, illiterate adults, hospital patients. I am sure it comes with ear phones for use in hospitals, nursing homes etc.

Margaret, this Kindle and others like it are our future. Like it or not. We still subscribe to the newspaper and news magazines. We see both getting slimmer and with more references to online content. Soon there will be no "paper" to read!

Posted by Connie Harvey Realtor Nashville TN Real Estate (Pilkerton Realtors) almost 3 years ago

Connie, You might be right. The papers/magazines are definitely shrinking in size. I love that it reads to you. The city of Baltimore now has only one newspaper.

I'm soooooooooooooo far behind the times. I actually enjoy laying out by the pool and reading a book that I actually hold in my hand and occasionally turn pages. LOL
