Making a habit of calling a member every day since I started on ActiveRain has taught me so much. Today when speaking with Kathy Streib , we both had "a light-bulb" moment.. We were talking about upcoming contests and Kathy wants to encourage more people to pick up that phone and reach out to a member who may need some encouragement.
They may need a nudge if they have been missing for a while.
With the recent and shocking passing of our friend Lou Ludwig, this hit home even more. By the time we realized he had not posted for a while...it was too late.
I have called members in the past and found out they had been ill, had some tragedy or were just down and out and not feeling like blogging.
Sometimes that phone call was just what was needed to let that person know they were missed. Some started posting from that one phone call.
Kathy and I were talking about a future contest about reaching out to other members. ( I will not expect my friend Barbara Todaro who does not like to make calls, to participate.)
While talking and brainstorming with Kathy, I mentioned the calls could be to past clients. Another reason to pick up that phone might be to reach out to say a Happy New Year.
Who to call?
How about all your current listings or your clients from the past year or two.
Make it easy.
Before you put away, toss or recycle the holiday cards you have recently received, why not call those who sent them. If they thought enough of you to send a card...don't you think they would appreciate hearing from you?
Just Another Reason To Pick Up That Phone
