Do You Have A Church Key ?

Do You Have A church Key?

A church key is a kind of bottle or can opener initially referred to as a small metal device for prying the caps off of glass bottles.

In 1935, cans of beer with flat tops needed this device to puncture the lids.

One end is for bottles and the other for cans.

Even though this item was invented by D.F. Sampson in 1898, it was not called a church key until the 1950's.

While celebrating the 40th anniversary with some very special friends and former clients, I remembered the church keys in their previous house in Baltimore's Hunting Ridge

I  am still fascinated by their extensive collection.

Today I saw these church keys all hanging together in the kitchen of their new home.

Just wondering...
