A Proud Mom...Baltimore Spotlighters Theatre - "A Sensation Novel"New Show

 A Proud Mom...

Baltimore Spotlighters Theatre

"A Sensation Novel"

There is a brand-new show at  Spotlighters  Theatre   in downtown Baltimore.  It's called "A Sensation Novel" and when I say "brand new" I mean it's an American premiere.

It has only been performed once before, in England, that we know of!  If you're familiar with Gilbert and Sullivan, this play is by that same Gilbert, but it was before he met Arthur Sullivan, so this classical music is composed by others, in the style of Gilbert and Sullivan.

Spotlighters A Sensation Novel

The play is set in 1871, in Victorian England. The plot is just confusing enough to be really interesting--an author has written a novel  but the characters in the novel do not like what they have to do in this novel.

They "come to life" and complain--in a very funny way.

For example, the two couples in the novel hate each other in real life.  They wish the author had written it differently.

There are lots of funny and silly lines and the audience's laughter,  on opening night, confirmed that.

You're probably thinking

"What does this have to do with real estate?"

Well I'm being a proud mom! My daughter Erica Rome, who has become a specialist in Gilbert and Sullivan, is the music director of the production and she's the pianist during the performances.

If you're in or near Baltimore, please go and support Erica and the very strong cast of singing actors!

"A Sensation Novel" runs Fridays (at 8pm), Saturdays (at 8pm) and Sundays (at 2pm) from now through October 4, plus "Ten-Spot Thursday" on September 17, when the tickets are only $10.  You can buy tickets at www.spotlighters.org.

General admission is $20, $18 for seniors and $16 for students and military.

Spotlighters theater is at 817 St Paul Street in Mt. Vernon.  Street parking can sometimes be tricky, so leave a few extra minutes for that.
